38 Weeks!

38 weeks! He's going to be here soon! I thought I would share another picture so we could really track my progress now that he will be here soon!

As I sit at home, large and uncomfortable, I feel compelled to make a list of the things I have to be truly grateful for with the pregnancy. It helps me feel better when I focus on the positives rather than dwelling on how my belly is so large that pretty soon I won't even have room on my lap for the laptop! So here goes...

Things I'm grateful for...

1. According to all ultrasounds, we appear to be having a healthy baby who will be a healthy weight when he is born.

2. We aren't sitting home with our baby already - because that would mean he might have come too early to be healthy.

3. At 38 weeks pregnant, I'm still wearing my wedding rings.

4. Modern science has created medicine strong enough to curb horrific heartburn (even if it hasn't disappeared altogether).

5. Moderate weight gain... and while I think it will still be months and months before fitting again in pre-pregnancy clothes, I am hopeful that I will be able to get back into them eventually!

6. Very little swelling during the pregnancy.

7. Lots of kicks and punches to constantly reaffirm that Banks is doing well, even at the expense of a good night's sleep!

8. An overall easy pregnancy with very few complications and no restrictions on my activity - today we were still able to go on a very long walk!

9. Supportive friends and family who have been praying for Banks and his development, and who are still praying for his delivery!

10. A precious, supportive husband who, even though he doesn't understand exactly what I'm going through, manages to help me keep the house clean, rub my back, fix me dinner (french toast tonight!) and let me whine when I'm feeling particularly large.

I am so impressed that you are still wearing your wedding rings! And I'm so glad Banks likes to move around too, because it was great to get to feel him move! I bet he has lots of hair since you've had bad heartburn. I can't wait to see him in pictures, and then in person whenever I make it down there again!

I will no longer be speaking to you anymore! 38 weeks and still wearing your wedding bands! I took mine off at 28 weeks...that is when it went downhill for me! I am glad you are much more less swollen! I guess you can wear real shoes too! What am I getting myself into again? :)

My wedding rings didn't make it to 38 weeks either and being pregnant while enjoying a Charleston summer caused A LOT of swelling! Those are things I am jealous of.
You look great! Enjoy the rest of your time with Banks in your belly!

Some things I'm thankful for:
-My wife has not gained 80lbs(barely 1/4 of that)
-My wife is not overly hormonal
-French Toast
-I will be holding a healthy boy in a matter of days!

I also wanted to add that while your are carrying your belly similar to the way I carried Hannah, I am very jealous as to how thin your face is. I was full of fluid from head to toe! I am planning my next baby to be a winter baby. What's that? I think I hear God laughing at me making my own plans.
It seems like your pregnancy has gone so fast! (maybe not to you, I guess)
Jonathan, I will be thankful if you get pictures of Banks on this blog ASAP after he is born. :)

Don't worry Annie! We will post pics ASAP! Actually, Katie will post pics ASAP for us (thanks Katie!). And I'm all for you having a winter baby becuase it's nice to not have to worry about the heat and swelling - but you know that means you need to start planning in just a few months, right? :)

I think you need to give us daily updates, because when you don't, it sort of makes me think maybe you went into labor already or something.

You look great!!! I'm swollen like a blimp (see my blog). Doesn't this last couple of weeks seem to drag by?!?!?

How come I had to lurk on your friend's blog to find out you might be induced tomorrow? Is that true???? I was induced with Hannah. It is an interesting experience. :)

I am sitting here realizing that you will probably be waking up to head to the hospital to start the process of having your little Banks!!! I can't believe today is the day. That is if you have kept with the hope you can induce today. I am at a place where I can't check email often and where I can't call either. So, this weekend I will have to come to the base and check for news on the birth. I just hate being this far away and that I won't get to meet him until 4 months from now. Sarah, I am so happy for you and Jonathan and can't imagine what must be going through your head as you embark on this!! You are going to be a fantastic mom and Banks will be the love of your life!! I can't wait to hear that he is here!!! Good luck with the labor and know I am thinkinf of all three of you!
