On Saturday, we went to the Animal Kingdom. Honestly, I thought the magic kingdom would be Banks's favorite. He liked it, but nothing beats the Magic Kingdom! More on that soon!
So, we walk into the park. Jonathan and I stop to look at a map, and when we look up - we see Banks walking out of a store carrying Mickey Mouse and wearing a matching Mickey hat!
Me: Banks, what is that?!
Banks: Mickey Mouse! (Gazes adoringly into Mickey's eyes) I love him!
Then, off to watch A Bugs Life. Have you ever seen A Bugs Life? You might remember it to be a harmless little 3D show. Lighthearted and fun, right? W.R.O.N.G. Scariest thing ever for a 2 year old. Those little 3D bugs are hurling larger than life 3D acorns at the crowd at no less than 456 mph. Banks was trembling. Clearly, this picture was taken before the show started! Please notice Jonathan is wearing the Mickey ears and the bug eyes.
We saw so many awesome animals at the Animal Kingdom! He loved it! But, because the animal kingdom closed at 6, we decided to keep on going until Banks just couldn't go on any more. The last ride of the day was a safari, and we rode all through the Animal Kingdom seeing all kinds of animals. About 3 minutes before the end of the safari, this happened...
We saw so many awesome animals at the Animal Kingdom! He loved it! But, because the animal kingdom closed at 6, we decided to keep on going until Banks just couldn't go on any more. The last ride of the day was a safari, and we rode all through the Animal Kingdom seeing all kinds of animals. About 3 minutes before the end of the safari, this happened...
Thus ended our day at the Animal Kingdom. We all went home to rest. Day 2 at Disney was the Magic Kingdom. Oh, wow. You know, some things in life are wonderful and larger than life when you experience them as a child. But then, when you have the opportunity to experience those things as an adult, but watching through the eyes of your child, they are far more wonderful and larger than life.
First on the agenda was going to meet Mickey himself, because he was only available for pictures from 10-10:30. You better believe we made a beeline for his tent! What I expected was to see Banks have all eyes for Mickey. But, no. Minnie made such a fuss over Banks! She kissed all over his face! And the look on Banks's face was that of pure adoration. I'm telling you, the face I saw when he looked at Minnie was the face of a boy in LOVE! I will see that face again one day in about 20 years I am sure. I'm sorry that face is not captured here... you'll have to take my word for it.
Next, off to the Dumbo ride. To the average adult - Dumbo looks like any carnival ride that goes round and round and up and down. To a child - a magic elephant (or 'efedent' as Banks would say).
A merry - go - round? Magic horses.
And no trip to Disney is complete without a picture in front of the castle. Please notice his Clemson hat underneath his Mickey ears. He insisted on wearing both hats.
Can you imagine the pure bliss on Banks's face when Minnie showed up again at lunch! He loves her. He really does.
By far, the very best thing about Disney were the parades and shows. I would not trade anything in the world for watching Banks's face as the characters floated through the streets, the music blared, and the Disney dancers danced. And the last parade before the sun set, the floats stopped and they invited everyone to dance in the streets! And boy did Banks dance! My toddler and I definitely joined a conga line with Disney characters!
We stayed at the Magic Kingdom until the parade of lights, and then watched the fireworks over the castle. Banks was so tired, but he laid his little head on his daddy's shoulders and watched the whole thing.
As we left the park, Banks was nearly asleep in my arms. We went to get on the monorail, and Banks perked up again and said, "Mommy! ANOTHER train! All Aboard!" Bless him. He thought it was one more Disney ride!

Sarah those pictures are priceless!! It looks you all had an amazing time...and so true about watching things through your child's eys...so amazing!!
